Essential fatty acids are fatty acids the human body cannot produce itself. They are made up of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fats and are predominently found within oily fish such as mackerel, haddock, tuna (not canned), salmon, cod, etc.

However, with the modern diets of today we do actually get a large amount of Omega 6's and so the key fatty acid to ingest would be Omega 3 [comprising of EPA -Eicosapentaenoic Acid and DHA - Docosahexaenoic Acid]

Essential Fatty Acids or EFA's (as they're perhaps more conveniently known) are "essential" building blocks for the body. As part of a well balanced diet, EFA's are prominent. They increase the body's ability to perform and improve overall health and vitality. They really are an essential part of a well structured diet for bodybuilders and none bodybuilders alike.

EFA supplements are known to increase the circulation in the body. This ability to increase circulation therefore increases the amount of blood that is transported to key muscles in the body, allowing more amino acids to be delivered to the muscle tissue.

The delivery of amino acids to the muscle tissue is important especially after a workout. Your muscles need blood that is rich with protein straight after your workout so that your muscles can begin to repair themselves without sustaining too much damage.

This faster delivery of amino acid rich blood also leads to increased endurance. You'll experience better pumps, and increased cardiovascular performance as a result of taking your essential fatty acids.
