Green Tea is an old beverage that originated from China and is made only with the leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) that have been subject to minimal oxidation and fermentation during processing. Green tea catechins have high anti-oxidant properties (25-100 times more potent that vitamins E and C) and are responsible for most of the benefices related to green tea. The major four catechins in green tea leaves are epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), epicatechin gallate (ECG), epigallocatechin (EGC) and epicatechin (EC).
