NO2 Max Capsules
NO2 Ultra contains two of the most syngergistic ingredients for ultimate muscular pumps and strength gains. Using Nitric Oxide Performance Enhancing Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AAKG) and strength and ATP promoting Citrulline Malate - we are sure that your workouts will be taken to new levels
We have combined these two ingredients together simply because they work! Both AAKG and Citrulline Malate compliment each other in ensuring that you will be able to perform more reps and allow for more blood to be available within the muscles. /p>
A bit about Citrulline Malate
Citrulline Malate is a combination of the amino acid Citrulline, which is involved in the urea cycle and Malate, a Krebs (also known as also known as the tricarboxylic acid cycle or citric acid cycle) cycle intermediate which is a major producer of aerobic energy within the mitochondria. Citrulline is found naturally primarily in Melons, and Malate can be found naturally in Apples. Citrulline Malate (CM) is a versatile compound that can enhance performance through a variety of biological mechanisms. CM increases levels of arginine and ornithine which are both important amino acids for muscle growth and have been shown to influence growth hormone levels.
By virtue of this increase in argninine levels CM elicits similar benefits to arginine based supplements (see AAKG for details). CM reduces fatigue through a number of ways. It protects against increased blood acidity by increasing the levels of bicarbonate in the blood. It dramatically speeds up the rate at which the metabolic by-products of exercise (such as lactic, ammonia and endotoxins) are removed from working muscles, and it increases the rate (by up to 34%) of oxidative (aerobic) ATP production during exercise.
In a clinical setting CM has been shown to improve recovery from physical activity in patients with acute diseases as well as increasing feelings of well being and combating asthenia often associated with chronic wasting conditions.
A bit about AAKG
Nitric Oxide Performance Enhancing Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AAKG) is an advanced form of the amino acid Arginine. AAKG is a salt formed by combining two molecules of the amino acid Arginine and one molecule of Alpha-Ketoglutarate. Arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid that has a number of vital roles in human biochemistry and has an important role in protein synthesis.
Alpha-Ketoglutarate is another important biological compound, used by the body to help with the creation of usable energy from carbohydrates, fats and protein. It also combines with ammonia to create glutamic acid, a precursor of glutamine. AAKG acts to stimulate the production of nitric oxide in your body. Nitric Oxide (NO) acts as your body's master "cell-signalling" molecule, directing and ordering a complex array of activities. It regulates blood flow (vasodilation), muscle contraction, nerve signalling and muscle growth, to name just a few. Whilst NO's vasodilating properties may be beneficial in the treatment of angina, high blood pressure, heart disease, and sexual dysfunction - it's most noticeable effect for bodybuilders is an enhanced 'pump'. Whether or not this is solely cosmetic or actually stimulates hypertrophy is debatable, but NO itself has been shown to stimulate protein synthesis in the muscle. AAKG supplementation has been shown to elevate concentrations of anabolic hormones (growth hormone and insulin) and amino acid metabolites, including insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), glutamine and glutamate. AAKG has also been shown (in a dose-dependent manner) to induce a significant increase in the growth of human fibroblasts – cells with similarities to muscle fiber cells (an effect not duplicated with Arginine or Alpha-ketoglutarate alone).
AAKG has been used to treat patients suffering from burns, surgery, malnutrition and other trauma as well as other highly catabolic conditions. Although the precise mechanism is unknown, AKG treatment decreases muscle protein catabolism (breakdown) and/or increases protein synthesis, in addition to promoting wound healing and stimulating immune system function.
